Bollywood Films: A Travel Junkie Should Have In Their Watchlist.

If your childhood was filled with memories of Shah Rukh Khan spreading his arms in his trademark style or you've grown up believing in an ideal Rajshri family, then for you, my friend, are 20 indisputable signs why Bollywood has taken over your life? Do you spend hours reading about potential bucket list trips? Stand any pricey purchase you make up against how much you could otherwise be spending on a plane ticket? What about booking flights just for the sake maintaining airline status? If any of this sounds familiar, believe us, we get it. Check out this list below to see if you fit the travel junkie profile.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

'Dilon mein tum apni betabiyan leke chal rahe ho Toh zinda ho tum!
Nazar mein khwaabon ki bijliyan leke chal rahe ho
Toh zinda ho tum!'
The film took us through a journey of 3 friends who understood their life through their journey in Spain. The audience saw lazy drive, relationship rollercoaster, parental roleplay and most importantly the loyalty between the three of them. The thing which kept the audience sitting on the seat, was the activities they were taking up on the way, the scuba diving, sky diving, bull race and la tomatina. After this movie, many Indians chose Spain as their travel destination.

Yeh Jawani Hain Diwani

This movie has Kabir, a guy who wants to make it big in the travel industry, meets Naina during a trekking trip. She falls for him but refrains from expressing it. Years later they meet at a friend's wedding.
A mixture of alive, friendship, inner peace  self realisation and sacrifice.

Piku

A road trip to Kolkata brings Piku, an architect, closer to her ageing but nagging father Bhaskor Banerjee despite their disparate ideologies and fights over trivial issues.
A bitter-sweet journey which shares the beautiful bond of father-daughter relationship. This movie has songs which can be perfect playlist for a journey.

Jab Harry Met Sejal

Sejal, an exuberant woman, loses her engagement ring on a trip. She then enlists the help of
Harry, a flirtatious tour guide, in order to retrieve it and eventually falls in love with him. It tells us, 'What you are seeking, is seeking you'.

Anjana Anjani

Akash and Kiara, two heartbroken and suicidal people, find each other just as they are about to end their lives. The duo then decide to live life to the fullest until New Year's Day. They travel to LA,  and does things which they wished for. On this journey they realise their self worth and importance of life. They fall and then rise falling in love with each other.

NH10

A thriller where Meera (Anushka Sharma) and Arjun (Neil Bhoopalam) are professionals living in Gurgaon. When Meera walks out of a party late one night, she gets attacked by a group of unknown men. It is a movie for travel junks as well as in search of some thrill and dark experience.

Highway

Veera, a young bride-to-be, is abducted by a common criminal, Mahabir, and his men a day prior to her wedding. Far from being terrified of her abductor, Veera discovers an adventurous and liberating life. Where she finds the importance of self love and realises that she wants no one but herself.

Queen

Rani is devastated after her fiance leaves her just before the wedding. Undeterred, she decides to go on their honeymoon alone where she gets pulled out of her comfort zone and rediscovers herself. The songs will keep you singing and dancing at the backseat.

Go Goa Gone

While in Goa, three friends decide to visit an isolated island for a rave party. But the next morning they find themselves not only stranded but also surrounded and hunted by flesh-eating zombies. A comedy horror with a pinch of realistic approach.

Dil Dhadakne Do

On the occasion of their 30th anniversary, Kamal and Neelam invite their family and friends on a cruise. However, on the journey, they learn many life lessons and change for the better. This movie was narrated by Pluto, a pet dog that the host owned. It was different and gave us the perspective of each and every person on screen. Because who doesn't like dogs? It taught us the moto 'Dil se faisla karo tumhe kya karna hai, raasta apne aap nikal jaega'.

So, these are some of my favorite movies based on traveling. Have you watched them? What are yours?
